Currently there are very few filters for a self build mortgage, and after speaking with Stuart Bryce at Buildstore, he has a couple of additional filters which would source self-build mortgages in a much clearer way, and save advisers a great deal of time speaking directly with lenders.
1. Offer an alternative of Valuation, as work progresses, or a cost basis, so stage payments are agreed up front, and no stage valuations are required.
2. Have on option for stage payments in arrears or advance.
Most self-build lenders offer these options.
