Credit File Lock/Freeze Notification

Many clients are now opting to “lock” or “freeze” their credit file – some new measure offered by Experian for safety so that if someone steals their info, they can’t apply for a load of debt.

Submitting on APPLY, DIP's are getting referred to lender, in this example to Virgin – presumably because the computer couldn’t give an instant decision as it could not run an actual credit check

Waiting for days for lender to review this, which then causes a “decline” and the reason for the decline was “no data found so low credit score”

Further prodding found that there was no data found as the file was locked – it would have been really useful if this had come up at the beginning on MA.

All lenders are going to have to get used to this new freeze option, not ideal how it works logistically in the background, but there should be some sort of code like “no data found”

Halifax DIP on their own system, flags that the file is locked, and you need to get it unlocked before you can proceed.

Can we consider a workaround/support for this

APPLY replies on using what is available in a lender API. We can accommodate any decision that comes back and use teh notes to convey mesages that are passed from the lender.

If we are not displaying that message then its because the lender is not passing that in their API. Its probably a conversation to have with the lenders on APPLY to see if/where they are upto with adding that as an option into their API so that we can use it.
